We are expecting the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak for devices like the iPhone 5 to come around already, with most speculations pointing to end of this month. However that may no longer be the case.
iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak exploit being kept hidden?
After the excitement on Twitter where hacker Chpwn showed us a glimpse of his iOS 6 jailbreak, it was unclear why such a long time passed and the untethered jailbreak was never made available to the public. The answer may be in a recent report by BGR.
BGR reported yesterday that Apple is prepping its iOS 6.0.1 update. Now as we’ve seen in the past, if a jailbreak happens before an update is fired out, Apple usually slips in a patch with the update to fix the exploit that was used by jailbreakers. So work done on an iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak would be wasted should hackers rolls out the tool now.
This cat and mouse game between the jailbreaking community and Apple has been going on since the original iPhone was released. So if we’ve learned anything, the untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 won’t come until Apple releases iOS 6.0.1.
