Owners of the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 who want freedom for their device are focused on when the untethered jailbreak will come out. So has all hope been lost for the jailbreak?
iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak status
Just a few days ago we saw famed jailbreak developers on Twitter focused on certain jobs to do with the iPhone 5 jailbreak, including looking into kernel exploits, while p0sixnija looked into ways to dump the bootROM. Thanks to the improved security this is something that hasn’t been achievable for many years on iPhone hardware.
However if p0sixninja could find a way then possibly we could see the untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and even iPhone 5S or 6, as it would be easier to get the jailbreak. There are many users on Twitter who asked p0d2g where things stand for the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, and these questions have been in the increase thanks to his Twitter account having started being updated again.
Unfortunately his response wasn’t very uplifting. He said that his focus isn’t on the userland exploit that many people thought he was working on. The developer pointed out that each day brings something new and therefore he could begin work on the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak again for the iPhone 5 and 4S. However, right now p0dg2 is not focused on it. This was one of the most asked questions after there being Tweets regarding the WWJC 2013 and becoming a DJ at the event.
A video which was uploaded to YouTube showed a live stream and discussion which is all about iOS 6 and the jailbreak for the iPhone 5, along with other things. This gives people a great deal of insight into where the developers are right now with the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and iPhone 5. Developers including planetbeing, MuscleNerd and Pod2g gave out details that suggested that we are nowhere close to the release of any jailbreak.
Many have welcomed the fact that p0d2 has come back to Twitter, even if it is to talk about being a DJ at WWJC. However, people would have preferred it if he had given news about them being close to the untethered jailbreak. To be fair you have to remember that the developers do have a life outside of jailbreaking and if iOS 6 is causing stress then they deserve some time out.
iOS 6 seems to be the hardest OS to jailbreak to date, this was confirmed by Joshua Hill, who said that the protection Apple had used was ridiculous. Hill also pointed out that people should not fall victim to scams that had been showing up online from people claiming to have the iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak already.
