There is some great news today for those who have been waiting for the untethered jailbreak for the Apple iPhone 5 and iOS 6. Regardless of all the events, such as p0d2g making an exit and return to jailbreak, along with fake and cons about the jailbreak, the Dream Team hackers seem to have achieved what has been impossible.
iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak running successfully
PlanetBeing has said in a response to a discussion on the return of p0d2g, that he has the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 up and running on his Apple iPhone 5. He says that the untethered jailbreak has not been released as it may burn the exploit found and hackers want to keep this to help them when new firmware is released in the future. He said that iOS 6.1 would be coming soon and the exploit would be used to break a small part of it, so they didn’t want to sacrifice the bugs it wouldn’t break.
The hacker gave justification about his choice not to release the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak at the moment by saying that there was more than four bugs, all needed to get it to work, and that there would be one or two more, which would make jailbreaking even harder. He finished off by saying that reports of jailbreaking dying had been exaggerated. He also said that he didn’t want to talk about it on Twitter as it could start a riot, he preferred the smaller jailbreak community.
Doubts of all the sceptics have been clarified as PlanetBeing assured them that he did have a working version on his iPhone 5. He said that the jailbreak would allow users to run MobileSubstrate, which is what is needed for installing jailbreak tweaks.
Following his revelation about the jailbreak on his own iPhone 5 users of Reddit have appreciated his work.
One said that it was nice to hear from a developer as it was all doom and gloom before this and that person had had to get used to using an unjailbroken iPhone 5 and he said that it sucked. Another user told him to keep up with the good work and thanks PlanetBeing.
