Did Someone Ask Santa For iPhone 5 iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak?

A new hacker on the scene has promised to deliver the untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 on the 22nd December. This will be the first untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5, 4S, iPad 2, 3 and 4 running the latest OS.

iPhone 5 & iOS 6 untethered jailbreak coming on Dec 22nd

Dream JB has said that they will deliver the untethered jailbreak which will jailbreak iOS 6 and iOS 6.1 later in the month. It is thought that the jailbreak will be able to be used on most Apple devices, including the iPhone 5, iPod Touch 4th gen and iPad Mini.

At the moment there is a tethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4 in iOS 6, however if owners have to reboot their phones they would have to jailbreak the handset again. This is not the same with an untethered jailbreak.

The Dream JB hacker said that he would release proof of the untethered jailbreak today, Wednesday 12th December by way of a video showing the entire jailbreak process for iOS 6, unedited.

According to the developer the jailbreak is not done in one click, however it is said to be very easy to do. On the downside this is a userland exploit and it is expected that Apple will have a fix for it very quickly.

Once the device is jailbroken it will have Cydia which allows users to be able to install new apps that have not met approval from Apple and tweak the device. However at the moment not all of the apps with Cydia work on the iPhone 5.

Meanwhile Joshua Hill, who is a well-known hacker of iOS, said on Twitter that all claims of jailbreaking were fakes. However he didn’t specifically mention Dream Jailbreak, however he did mention the ARB Dev Team who claimed they had the iOS 6 iPhone 4S untethered jailbreak very recently.

As the date for the jailbreak moves ever closer, which will run on both Mac and Windows, there is at the moment no news of whether the Dream Jailbreak team will expect people to pay for the jailbreak or whether they will give it for free.
