There are many iOS fans who are waiting to hear about an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and iOS 6. Up to now jailbreaking the OS has proved to be very tricky and there have been twists and turns, along with scams along the way. However news of a release date for the jailbreak has finally been revealed by a group of developers with the name of Dream JB.
iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak announced for December 22
Dream JB said that they would give proof very soon on Twitter of the jailbreak, along with posting it on their website.
Of course there are people who are skeptical about this news and many have been frustrated in the past by having their hopes raised and dashed. So at the moment you may wish to take the news along with a pinch of salt, until an official release comes our way.
Developers such as @musclenerd, @pod2g and @p0sixninja have been on Twitter giving information on the state of the jailbreak and news can be found on the official iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team websites. Anyone wanting to know more about the untethered jailbreak should check these out. Of course often, unintentionally, we have given credence to claims that have been unsubstantiated, along with other sites.
We merely want to pass on info and don’t want to get the hopes up of people waiting for the jailbreak. Therefore at the moment the news from the Dream JB team should be taken with caution. It could turn out to be yet another fake; however the news is worth passing on that they claim to have the untethered jailbreak.
The team say that the untethered jailbreak for the iPhone will be released on 22nd December. The jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 will be for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2 and iPod Touch 4th gen. The team say that they are a one man army and they have their own website and Twitter account, which are used to communicate with jailbreakers. They say they have nothing to do with the Dev Team and that the jailbreak will be revealed exclusively on 22nd December. The team have also sent out an invitation to media colleagues to talk about the jailbreak.
On 7th December the Twitter account for Dream JB had been suspended. It was said that the jailbreaking community were asked by email to contact the team, however none did. Dream JB then said that the jailbreaking community was egotistical. This was due to the fact that members of the Dev Team have dismissed the idea that there is a jailbreak, saying that it was impossible for anyone who wasn’t with the Dev Team to jailbreak iOS 6 and iPhone 5.
The Dream JB team posted on the 10th December that proof will be given of the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6, so we will just have to wait and see what happens. They also say that there will be a video posted and this will be proof and “will be a single-take shot of the entire jailbreak process, including a restart and usage of the device to prove it is untethered. It will be uploaded as raw video straight from my camera to YouTube. So no edits in any form. Thank you all for your patience and support.”
So can team Dream JB deliver on their promise? I am sure this is the question on everyone’s minds right now who is waiting for the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and the latest iPhone 5.
