The iPhone 5 is madly popular, and so is iOS 6, but owners are waiting for developers to create a jailbreak. Two hackers have both claimed that they’ve made an untethered jailbreak and are offering it to the public already, but these solutions have both been exposed as “poisonous” for your iOS device.
iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak solutions are duds
Of course, you should always be cautious about installing unauthorized software, but jailbreaking is very popular nevertheless, and lots of iPhone owners do it despite the known risks of bricking their phone. The pair of hackers touting their iPhone 5 and iOS 6 jailbreaks were both asking for money, and developers were quick to point out that there was no jailbreak right then.
Jherthop was one of the hoaxers who managed to relieve some people of their cash in return for his jailbreak “solution”. He got caught out and offered to refund the money, but as yet we don’t know if he has given any money back. He did, however, show some remorse for his actions, unlike the second guy.
The second guy was charging $500 for his solution, and he even posted a screenshot of a jailbroken iPod Touch 5G. This shot was a rubbish attempt at Photoshop, however, and he was exposed. Rather than show contrition, however, he started insulting his critics on Twitter. Charming!
So, there are unscrupulous people who will do and say anything to get your money. There IS no untethered iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5, so if someone offers you a solution, decline politely and save yourself from a possible brick! If and when a genuine jailbreak comes out, it won’t cost a penny, and you’ll hear about it from reliable sources.
