With the invitations having been sent out for the Apple event which takes place tomorrow, 12th September, ProductReviews (PR) reports that they have learnt that the new iPhone will possibly be called the iPhone 5 and also when to expect the release of iOS 6 for devices other than the iPhone 5.
iPhone 5 will come preloaded with iOS 6 but when will other iOS devices get the software update?
Once we knew when Apple was going to launch the next generation iPhone 5 it was just a matter of time before we could predict when they would release iOS 6. At the moment all we know about the event happening on the 12th is the date of it and the location it will be held in.
However PR adds that if you look back to other iPhone events you will see that they were held on the Tuesday which occurred on the 4th of October and then a new operating system, iOS 5, at the time, was launched 8 days later on October 12th. If Apple keeps on form then we could expect the iOS 6 release to fall between 6 and 8 days following the event. This would put the date for the release of iOS 6 around the 19th of September for other iOS devices like the iPhone 4S and iPad 3.
However when the OS is released you can expect slowdowns when trying to download it as demand will be heavy.
It is thought that the iPhone 5 will be available for pre-order on the same day that it is announced. This would mean that you could have the new iPhone 5 in your hands by 21st September.
