The iPhone 5 was launched over a month ago now and since then is catching up to the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Unlike the upgrade from the iPhone 4 to the 4S, the iPhone 5 has been redesigned from the ground up. One of its biggest new features would have to be the 4-inch Retina Display. Unlike the previous 5 iPhones before it, Apple finally decided to change the screen size of its popular phone and gave it an extra half-inch of real estate.

So far the progress of app developers to optimize their apps for the 4-inch Retina display has been slow. Many popular apps are still feature black bars on either sides as developers take their time to make their apps compatible for the newfound space.

Now over on Reddit, user Mds03 brought up an interesting suggestion for what Apple themselves could do with that extra half-inch of space. The Redditor posted the image you see below and has so far received a positive response from the Apple Reddit community with regards to his suggestion for the expanded keyborad.

With Jony Ive now joining the iOS software department as well, here’s hoping he considers redesigning the iOS keyboard which to be honest hasn’t changed since the first iPhone.

Not only is he an executive editor and collaborates on many stories here at Autoomobile, but he also does artwork and handles the running of the website on a daily basis. We’re not sure what we would do without Dwayne, especially on those days when we have a great scoop and our servers can’t handle the influx of traffic.
