The new iPhone 5 comes with extra real estate thanks to the 4 inch display of 1126 x 640. To make sure that apps show up on the iPhone 5 without the black bars at the top and bottom, developers have had to rewrite their apps. Some have worked hard and their apps are ready for the new device, while others are still working on them.

This of course is not the only time that Apple has pulled off a screen trick on developers. However it is only the second time that developers have had to change the ratio. The first time this was seen on the iPad and it worked out very well with over 250,000 apps having being designed to work on the screen. Apple have reported that that they have had 5 million orders for their new iPhone 5 and so developers will be getting their versions of their iPhone 5 app out as fast as possible.
The new display of the iPhone 5 means that you will see more of the background of a game and some extra lines of text. However if you want to get the best out of the new iPhone 5 and the upgraded A6 processor, then check out the games in the App Store that are optimized for it.
