The iPhone 5 has been announced but due to this the iPhone 4S may be the best deal in town at the moment. So the question is, would it be wise to upgrade to an iPhone 4S despite the newer iPhone 5 already revealed?
iPhone 4S vs iPhone 5: Which is a smarter buy?
The iPhone 5 can be pre-ordered from the 14th of September and you will have it in your hands on the 21st. You can get it for $199 for the 16GB version with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon. Thanks to the launch of the new device the price for the iPhone 4S has been dropped to $99 for the 16GB version with a contract of two years. The iPhone 4 is even available for free on contract.
With the drop in price, the iPhone 4S is a great deal as it is still a superb handset. Owners of the 4S can also look forward to an update to iOS 6 when it is released. This brings numerous features (over 200). Of course the iPhone 5 is a great upgrade to the previous model and there are many features you would miss out on if you stuck with the iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 5 comes with a faster processor in the form of the A6 and it has 4G LTE support for faster data speeds. The battery gives you more talk time and the camera on the back of the device takes 1080p video, while the front camera offers recording at 720p. The screen is also four inches of Retina display.
What it comes down to when considering whether to upgrade is finances of course, especially if you have to pay out fees to make the upgrade. Another factor is that a 4G LTE connection uses more data. This is generally around 1.2 GB per month and 500MB on slower connections. If you don’t want the larger screen and faster data speeds mainly, then the iPhone 4S may be the best deal for you.
