iPhone 4S vs iPhone 5: Pros & Cons Of Each

By  |

Retailers have said that in November the Apple iPhone 4S is still selling strong and it happens to remain ahead of the iPhone 5. However it is still behind the Samsung Galaxy S3 which remains this year’s best seller.

So if you are considering between the Apple iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S, which of the two handsets should you go for?

iPhone 4S vs iPhone 5: the major things to consider

Apple have finally managed to meet the demand for the iPhone 5 and now the wait for shipping is only around 2 to 4 days, when you purchase it from the Apple Store. So what are the reasons for choosing the iPhone 4S over the iPhone 5 then? Well the price tag is one of them.

The Apple iPhone 5 has seen price cuts in the US. If you go to Walmart, you can get the iPhone 5 for $127, with $72 savings in comparison to buying it from the Apple Store. The iPhone 4 however has also seen a price cut and now sits at just $47 at the retail giant with a two-year contract.

The Apple iPhone 5 could be the best deal at the moment though, thanks to the price drop and it having the bigger screen. Talking about the display, if you check the App Store you will find that most of the popular apps have been updating to display correctly on the larger screen of the iPhone 5 now (finally). Rumours have also been going around that Apple could choose to reveal the iPhone 5S a lot earlier than some people expect. This could happen in June at the WWDC, so you may wish to bear this in mind as it too should have the larger display and hence developers will prioritize the larger display more on more when it comes to future apps.

At the same time, if you like you device to “look new” as long as possible then the tables will turn again. One of the biggest drawbacks to choosing the Apple iPhone 5 instead of the iPhone 4S is the build quality. A two year old iPhone 4S could look as good as new if taken care of. However we know that this will not happen with the iPhone 5 as we’ve seen the review unit show signs of aging in just weeks. They may be microscopic cuts but in the long term it won’t look like the day you took it out of the box. Therefore if you want a device that will withstand day to day use best, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, may be the better options.

Looks aside, there is no getting away from the fact that the iPhone 5 has the faster processor, larger Retina display LTE.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
