While there have been numerous comparisons between the iPhone 5 and the current line of top Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and LG Nexus 4, the folks over at Phones-Review report that one of their readers believe even the iPhone 4S can battle it out with the current Android greats.
So why does PR think the iPhone 4S can beat 2012 Android models?
PR said that the iPhone 4S is useful as a personal assistant thanks to Siri, which Android is not. Android has Utter, Vlingo and Google Now, however these don’t match Siri and they cannot show reminders, schedule and translate as well as help you with voice mail and sending a text message. The voice recognition of Android does not work as well as that of Siri.
The reader goes on to praise the iPhone 4S’ notification area for being designed cleanly. Stocks and weather have been added. The Samsung Galaxy S3 on the other hand lets users toggle between radios, turning them on and off. HTC Sense devices make it possible to switch between apps along with users being able to tweak settings on their device. Android has the edge with widgets, these you get info very easily and the OS is customisable. However, this means that the experience between handsets differs and it can be confusing to people. The iPhone 4S on the other hand is simple and easy to use.
When it comes to multi-tasking the iPhone 4S makes apps move with just a double press on the home screen button and if you want to close the apps you just have to press and hold the display and then hit “X” on the icon that you want to close. Closing apps makes the battery last longer.
The display of the iPhone 4S is crisp and brighter than the majority of Android handsets on the market and zooming to read text is not needed. We’re guessing PR is refering to the Super AMOLED screens on devices like the Samsung Galaxy S3 when they say that while they are bright, they are not as bright as the display on the iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 4S is far superior to the Android devices when it comes to its keyboard and typing. Users have the multi-touch keyboard of Apple and none come close to it as users are able to type accurately and quickly. (I’m sure there are many Android fans who will disagree with this but let’s keep moving)
Apple offers more apps in its App Store than Android does on Google Play. They are also better optimized given that there are only a handful of iOS devices that they need to be compatible with.
The iPhone 4S has a great deal of accessories to choose from. There is no denying this.
So what do you think, is the PR reader right?
