The Apple iPad Mini has the 1GHz A5 Cortex A9 dual core processors and at the moment we don’t know which processor will be in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. However there has been a benchmark test for a Samsung device that has the number of GT-N5100, which has the Samsung Exynos 1.6GHz 4412 quad-core CPU. This device is said to be the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 3G and Wi-Fi version. Winner: Samsung

The display of the Apple iPad Mini is 7.9 inches of IPS LCD, with a resolution of 1024 x 768. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is said to have a display of 8 inches, which will be TFT Super Clear LCD, along with a resolution of 1280 x 800. Winner: Samsung

The Apple iPad Mini has 512MB of RAM and it is available in 16GB, 32GB or 64GB versions and it is not expandable via SD card. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would have 2GB of RAM and come in 16GB or 32GB versions. It would also be expandable via SD card up to 32GB. Winner: Samsung

There is a 5 megapixel camera on the back of the Apple iPad Mini, this captures video at 1080p. There is also a camera of 1.2 megapixel on the front. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is thought to have a 5 megapixel camera on the back and a 1.3 on the front. Winner: Draw

You can get hold of the Apple iPad Mini for around $329 for the Wi-Fi only 16GB version, while the 64GB Wi-Fi tablet will cost you $529. The Wi-Fi cellular 16GB is $459, with the 64GB version being $659. At the moment there is no word on how much Samsung will charge for their mini tablet, however it is thought that it would be a lot cheaper. It would have to be in order for it to compete not only against Apple but also other tablets such as the Android Google Nexus 7.

One other feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to take into account is the stylus, known as the S Pen. A feature that could be the deciding factor is the design, however at the moment there are no photos of the Samsung tablet. Bear in mind that the specs are only assumed at the moment and they could turn out to be wrong, as they cannot be verified.

If you already own an iOS device then the choice could be an easy one for you. However price could play a part in the decision. So would you prefer the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 over the Apple iPad Mini? Perhaps it’s down to iOS vs Android for you?
