Samsung are continuing in their war against rivals Apple and they have been matching them product for product. Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 8.0 at the MWC, and this was an 8 inch tablet that is in competition with the Apple iPad mini. It is a tablet of high quality which will make it a winner for those who prefer a small tablet.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 does look like the current phones of Samsung, especially the flagship Samsung Galaxy S3. The tablet has been made in the same glossy plastic, it is strong, dense, and very comfortable to use. The display is 1280 x 800 pixels, with 189 PPI. While it may not be the sharpest display the TFT LCD is impressive and the brightness and colours are good.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 comes with the quad core ARM Cortex A9 processor of 1.6 GHz. It has 2 GB of RAM and as much as 32GB of internal storage. The tablet comes with a 5 megapixel main camera along with a front facing camera of 1.3 megapixel. The main camera can also take video in HD.
The tablet comes with wireless radios including dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, GLONASS and of course Bluetooth. Cellular models will also be available, however Samsung have not said which of the carriers will be offering the device, however it is thought that at least one of the carriers in the US will offer the tablet with LTE.
The tablet will also include applications and software that have only been seen on the Galaxy Note along with the Note 10.1 tablet. This should mean that it supports the S pen stylus along with all the apps.
Awesome Note offers users a to do list which has been working out at the gym every day. It also support dual viewing mode and this allows users to open two apps at the same time on the display. Each of these out will be some window and the widow can then be resized independently. The S pen can also be used on those secondary menus, while Air View allows owners to preview content.
The tablet comes with IR blaster along with the media to help owners to search to find new content to watch. This means that Samsung believe that owners will use the device whilst watching television. The IR blaster will also act as a TV remote control.
While the iPad Mini is a hot favorite in the small tablet market, it now has a couple of little critters to worry about by way of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Note 8.0 and in time the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
