iPad Mini vs Nexus 7: Who Da Boss?

The LG Nexus 7 comes with good looks and it offer Apple competition thanks to the soft plastic on the back and the lines that are very slender. However Asus along with Google allowed things to slide and the calibration of the display could be better. The colours of the Google Nexus 7 are not as rich as what the Apple iPad Mini offer. The Google Nexus 7 has 216ppi, while the Apple iPad Mini comes with 163ppi. The text looks a lot sharper on the Apple iPad Mini along with colours and contrast being sharper too. The display is larger and photos and video look better on the Apple iPad Mini.
In regards to performance and the operating system you have to choose between Android 4.1 and iOS6.1. The Google Nexus 7 comes with Project Butter and apps run smoothly. The Nexus 7 however has been updated to Android 4.2 and due to this is slowed down. This should soon be remedied.
The Google Nexus 7 is the winner when it comes to hardware as it has the quad core 1.2GHz processor. The Apple iPad Mini comes with the A5 dual core, which is same as on the Apple iPad 2. In tests at Geekbench they put the Google Nexus 7 as being twice the speed of the Apple iPad Mini, however it did have a chip that runs iOS very well and this is combined with a GPU that is world class.
The Google Nexus 7 wins for its processor, however the GPU of the Apple iPad Mini does work in favour of Apple. When it comes to software the Google Nexus 7 is ahead thanks to customisation, it has app shortcuts, more than one home screen and custom ROMs. This is something that iOS cannot match.
When it comes to tablets it is all about their apps and the Apple iPad Mini wins here as it has more than Google Play Store offers. So you would have to compromise over apps and software here.
Both of the tablets have batteries that are decent. You should get around 8.5 hours from the Google Nexus 7, while the Apple iPhone 5 gives around 10 hours. This means that the Apple iPhone 5 is just ahead and wins.
In conclusion both of the tablets are pretty evenly matched and so it will come down to whether you want iOS or Android? Secondarily, it would also depend on how much you want to pay out for a tablet and if you really need LTE.
