iPad 4 iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak Not As Simple As iPhone

If you think about the iOS 6 jailbreak for Apple devices then you automatically think about the Apple iPhone. This has been the case in the past as developers fight among themselves to get the jailbreak out for the latest Apple iPhone and iOS first, which brings them the most recognition.

iOS 6 untethered jailbreak: iPad Mini & iPad 4 complications

Now that the Apple iPhone 5 is out, the race is on for the untethered jailbreak. Typically this would be good news if you owned the Apple iPad 4 or the iPad Mini too since they run the same OS. There has been progress made with the iOS 6 jailbreak for the Apple iPhone, and this would mean that owners of other iOS devices would be able to use the jailbreak as well.

At the moment hackers like PlanetBeing and Pod2g are at work on the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and the former already has boasted having an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak running on his iPhone 5. However he doesn’t want to reveal it as this could burn off the exploits that have already been found.

Now it seems that there could be another problem developers have to face and this is due to the fact that in October rulings changed and the Apple iPad Mini and Apple iPad are no longer covered in the DMCA exemptions. This is a rule that allowed developers to jailbreak devices that ran on iOS, and Apple couldn’t stop them.

The changes mean that developers such as PlanetBeing and Pod2g could be taken to court by Apple, if they were to offer a jailbreak for the iPad 4 and Mini unlike the iPhone or iPod Touch.
