Where are we at the moment in regards to the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and the Apple iPad 4? Well there is actually people working on the jailbreak and the focus has been on finding a jailbreak for the Apple iPhone 5 but it is also thought that the jailbreak would also work on the iPad, along with other iOS devices.
Legal issues and roadblocks for the Apple iPad 4 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak
It is thought that the jailbreak for iOS 6 will not appear until Apple has revealed iOS 6.1, which they did recently. So when the jailbreak released it should work with all devices running iOS, which includes the Apple iPad 3, the iPad 4 and the Apple iPad Mini.
In the past when jailbreaks have been released they have worked on the Apple iPhone along with the iPad, however this jailbreak was only for the devices running on iOS 5.1. At the moment there is a jailbreak for devices that run on iOS 6, but only for the older devices such as the Apple iPhone 4 and the Apple iPod Touch.
Developers PlanetBeing and pod2g have teamed up with other developers and are part of a team called the Evad3rs. They are expected to launch an iOS 6 untethered jailbreak dubbed Evasi0n as early as today, Sunday.
However one thing that could stop the Apple iPad 4 from being jailbroken is rulings which have changed. A new ruling in October said that tablets were excluded from the rulings of the DMCA.
What this means is that it is still legal to jailbreak the Apple iPhone 5, however it isn’t for the Apple iPad 4 or the Apple iPad Mini. So at the moment we don’t know if this will stop the developers in their tracks.
