Everyone’s waiting for the iOS 6, iPod Touch and iPhone 5 untethered jailbreak – is it any closer, or should we forge on ahead and use iOS 6.0.1 instead?
iOS 6 untethered jailbreak update for iPhone & iPod Touch
Rest assured, dev teams are trying to find and crack exploits in the firmware, and they have made a bit of progress, but only for the 3GS, the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch 4G. If you’ve got one of these gadgets, you can install the Redsn0w app onto your device, plug it in and follow the instructions.
If you have the iPhone 4S, though, you’ll need to wait for the iOS 6 jailbreak or revert to iOS 5. iPhone 5 owners will still have to wait, sadly. The Dev Team got Absinthe out to the iOS 5 iPhone 4S so if you have this model, take a step back and install Absinthe, it’s great. There’s a tethered version for the 4S, as well as the 3GS and the iPod Touch 4G too, but if you have to reboot or if you run out of battery, you’ll have to perform the jailbreak over again.
So, it seems that iOS 6 has outfoxed developers. It might also be the case that the Dev Team is waiting for iOS 6.1 to come out to the general public before they release their jailbreak. If this is the case, though, we hope that Apple doesn’t patch up any known exploits. It may well be worth it to go to iOS 6.0.1, because with the current rate of progress, you may be waiting for some time.
