While the iPhone 5 is surprisingly easy to get your hands on this holidays thanks to abundant stock, an untethered jailbreak for it isn’t. We’ve been following 5 well known iOS hackers since Apple released iOS 6 to see which one would be the first to crack the latest OS which has iPhone 5 and iOS 6 device users locked down. Unfortunately the outlook still looks bleak.
iPhone 5 & iOS 6 untethered jailbreak solution tougher to come by than expected
Let’s kick things off with P0d2g, he recently tweeted about WWJC 2013 after going silent on Twitter for sometime now. Unfortunately what he had to say was that his focus wasn’t on the userland exploits anymore. He did however assure his followers that with each new day comes new challenges and he could go back into it again one day. For now, he was more interested in talking about being a DJ at WWJC 2013.
Now there is no surprise that he may have shifted his focus as a video recently uploaded on YouTube featuring him, MuscleNerd and PlanetBeing, other well know iOS hackers, had come about to explain that current progress of finding a jailbreak. If you saw the video and the comments by the hackers, you will know that an iOS 6 untethered jailbreak solution is still far from reach for the public.
So what’s the problem? According to Chronic Dev’s Joshua Hill, Apple has employed a ridiculous level of protection on iOS 6 which makes the iPhone 5 almost impossible to jailbreak.
The last blow to this dire situation comes via i0n1c who was known to have jailbroken the iPad 3 recently. According to a recent tweet by him, the latest iOS 6.1 beta 4 shows that Apple has now added even tougher security measures in place over iOS 6, making the possibility of an iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak run further south.
So that’s the two cents of five top iOS hackers in the jailbreak community right now.
