Towards the end of 2012 owners of the Apple iPhone 5 were beginning to wonder if they would ever see the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak after pod2g said that he had put it on hold for the time being. Pod2g is famous in the jailbreak world as he has been behind numerous jailbreaks.
Evasi0n: iOS 6 & iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak may arrive tonight
One of the reasons why he put the jailbreak on hold was so that he could work on development of apps. He was working on an app with the name of podDJ, which gave users of the Apple iPad a DJ booth that was lifelike. The good news is that this is now complete and it is in the App Store with a price of $8.
This means that the developer has been free to concentrate on the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 once again. Another popular jailbreaker, PlanetBeing, has made progress with the jailbreak and he showed his own Apple iPhone 5 working with the untethered jailbreak. However at the moment he is not releasing it to the public until more exploits are found.
Pod2g has now joined him in the hunt for the jailbreak with many others and they have a team called the Evad3rs. This team has for the first time ever since the release of iOS 6 showed promise of a possible untethered jailbreak.
Before the Evad3rs, many were confident that the boys at Cupertino managed to build a full-proof iOS that couldn’t be jailbroken.
What is now sending further tremors to Cupertino’s iOS department is talk that the iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak may be released today to the public. It will jailbreak everything from the iPhone 5 right down to the iPod touch.
