iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak: Achilles Heel Found

By  |

Developers have been working on the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and they revealed two new vulnerabilities just last week. This is a breakthrough given that Apple ramped up the security of iOS so much that developers were finding it unbreakable.

iOS 6 untethered jailbreak: two more exploits found

The community of jailbreakers has been benefiting from the return of @pod2g and he has been working alongside PlanetBeing on the jailbreak for iOS 6 and they are said to be making nice progress.

The pair have found new vulnerabilities that are needed if they are to release the iOS 6 jailbreak, however at the moment there is still a key part missing and so a public release is not possible.

On Saturday PlanetBeing shared the good news when he said that they had made nice progress and that he deserved a nap. Pod2g responded by saying that they had found two new vulnerabilities in one day but that the initial code execution was needed before the jailbreak could be released.

The pair are two of the most well-know jailbreakers in the community and both of them have talked about the progress that has been made with the iOS 6 jailbreak on more than one occasion in early 2013.

PlanetBeing said at the start of January that he had the untethered jailbreak for the Apple iPhone 5 and iOS 6 and that it works on iOS 6.0.2 too. At the moment the jailbreak is not ready for release to the public, as they don’t want to let Apple know that they have found its Achilles heel already.

The jailbreak for iOS 6 is not thought to be linked to the release of iOS 6.1, which should be out sometime soon. If you want to jailbreak your handset then you may wish to refrain from making the update to iOS 6.1.
