The launch to end all launches (until next year, obviously) is happening today! We know where and when it is, and that the new device is probably called the iPhone 5, and that there may be other iOS 6 features that are expected to be unveiled as well. So that brings us to the next big question.
iOS 6 release date: when will it be made available for iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS and the iPad models
The iPhone 5 will come preloaded with iOS 6 but when will other iOS devices like the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 & 3GS, iPod touch & iPad models get the software update?
Once the iPhone 5 launch date was public knowledge, it wasn’t exactly rocket science to work out the release date for iOS 6 reports ProductReviews (PR).
PR has had a look back through recent history and saw that other Apple iPhone events happened midweek, and that a new operating system was revealed between six to eight days later. This means we can expect iOS 6 to be released to iPads and iPhone 4Ss on or around September 19th. A guess yes, but an educated guess points out PR.
When iOS 6 is released, don’t worry if it seems a bit slow and “sticky” to download, as the demand will no doubt be astronomical for a day or so. So don’t bet on September 19th being the day you upgrade to iOS 6 but give it a few days more.
Apple fans can most likely pre-order the iPhone 5 later today, so with that we should be seeing the devices arriving at doors and into hands on or around September 21st.
