We’ve been waiting for news of a potential iOS 6 untethered jailbreak solution that is compatible for the iPhone 5 and models below by keeping checks on the numerous Twitter accounts of various iOS hackers. So it came as a surprise when The State Journal had this news to plop down today morning.
iOS 6 untethered jailbreak guide allegedly posted
According to SJ, the Safe Jailbreak Team have already released an iOS 6 untethered jailbreak guide for the iPhone 5, 4S and 4. The guide is available at OpenAnyPhone.com but at a cost of $28. And that’s where we have become doubtful.
So far all jailbreak solutions asking for money have turned out to be scams so we are having our doubts on this potential guide. The source adds that the Safe Jailbreak Team are the ones who created the untethered iOS 5/4.3.1/4.3.2/4.3.3 jailbreak. I personally was under the impression that those jailbreaks were the work of the Chronic Dev Team and those working closely with them.
Nevertheless like with all potential jailbreak solutions we will be testing this one out on our iPhone 5 first and update you on our findings.
Update: And we’re back. First off, don’t bother with the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak guide posted at OpenAnyPhone as it doesn’t work. As for the new site, State Journal, who posted it, on second read it looks more to be a press release than an actual report. This solution also seems to be similar to what we saw at Unlock-iPhone.org so don’t open your wallet to any of these services.
