Here’s some good news for owner of the HTC Thunderbolt. Despite the device’s shaky release early last year as well as the numerous bugs and complaints of poor battery life, it looks like HTC hasn’t forgotten about the device they wish they could have.
HTC Thunderbolt ICS upate release confirmed for August-end
According to AndroidCommunity, by the end of August we should see many devices getting the update to ICS. HTC announced this through their Facehook page in relation to numerous users who flooded them asking when they would get the update for their handset, which included the Thunderbolt and the Desire S.
HTC also told us that the update to ICS would roll out to all devices that they had announced towards the end of the month. This means that the DROID Incredible 2 should have the update around the same time. HTC have said that they plan on getting the update to the Desire S by the end of August, however if not, owners of the Desire S will be told of delays.
The Desire S should have got the ICS update in June or July. HTC canceled the proposed update for the Desire HD and of course users of the Desire S then expected their update to fall to the same fate. Luckily this does not appear to be the case. The Thunderbolt was previously in the same boat too but now has an August-end schedule too.
Things however may not go to plan, they rarely do, and it is possible that HTC could be behind with the planned updates. On the plus side they do seem to have confidence in being able to get the updates out by the end of this month. If there are any delays to the updates we will let you know.
