It can help to read reviews online when you are comparing two handsets. So this time around we take a look at the two latest Android smartphones to roll our way, the HTC One X+ with the LG Nexus 4.
HTC One X+ vs LG Nexus 4
As Christmas is just around the corner many people may be considering the upgrade to the HTC One X, which is the One X+. Meanwhile the update in the Nexus range is the LG Nexus 4. So how do the two handsets compare against each other?
The processor of the LG Nexus 4 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad core at 1.5GHz and it has Adreno 320 graphics. Meanwhile the HTC One X+ has the Tegra 3 1.7GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and GeForce graphics. Both of the devices can pack a punch when it comes to performance.
The display on the LG Nexus 4 is 4.7 inches True IPS Plus LCD and it has the resolution of 1280 x 768 with 318ppi. The HTC One X+ has the S LCD 2 display at 4.7 inches with 321ppi and 1280 x 720 resolution. Both are excellent screens and the size of the displays are the same and so it makes the decision of choosing even harder.
The LG Nexus 4 comes with 2GB of RAM and the device is available in 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, but SD card is not supported. This could let the device down in some people’s eyes. The HTC One X+ however comes with the choice of 16GB or 32GB and it has 1 GB of RAM, it too cannot be expanded.
The LG Nexus 4 comes with a camera of 8 megapixels which can take video at 1080p and there is a camera of 1.3 megapixels on the front. The device also has Photo Sphere panorama features. The One X+ also has an 8 megapixel camera which takes video at 1080p. Again there isn’t much to choose from between the cameras of the two handsets.
The LG Nexus 4 offers users the pure Android experience by way of the Android 4.2. The HTC One X+ comes with Android 4.1 and has he HTC Sense skin. If you want pure Android with speedy updates then it has to be the Nexus 4.
Both of the devices come with a battery of 2100mAh which should offer around 15 hours of talk time when using 3G. While the battery of the Nexus 4 hasn’t been tested yet, it should offer the same.
There is also very little by way of difference in the sizes of the two handsets. The Nexus 4 weighs 139 grams and measures 133.9mm x 68.7mm x 9.1mm. While the HTC One X+ is 135 grams and comes in at 134.36mm x 69.9mm x 8.9mm.
When it comes to price the LG Nexus 4 is on top as you can get it with Google Play for $299 for the 8GB version and $349 for the 16GB handset, both of which are unlocked. The HTC One X+ will set you back around $600 to $700 if you want it unlocked or you can get it for around $199 on contract.
Both of the devices are impressive in their own ways and yet are similar in lots of other ways. The design is different and the LG Nexus 4 is in black only and the One X+ comes in a choice of white, black or grey. Both devices have the standard connections including Bluetooth, NFC, US 2 and Wi-Fi, however the HTC One X+ is the only one with LTE support.
So which would you choose? If you don’t need LTE and can be comfortable with 16GB of storage then we would suggest going for the LG Nexus 4 as it matches the One X+ in every way plus has the benefit of getting future Android updates. If however you need LTE, then it is a no-brainer and the One X+ is for you.
