The HTC One X looks stunning, but it’s not been the big seller the company imagined. The Samsung Galaxy S3 hasn’t helped its case, and HTC is also letting customers down by not giving them the upgrades they want.
HTC One X Jelly Bean update may be coming later in the year only
HTC announced deadlines for Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades, but this August date came and went, and many users found themselves still languishing on Gingerbread. So will owners of the older HTC phones bother to upgrade to the HTC One X?
HTC was the first maker to pledge Jelly Bean to its public, but it’s been quite a while now and there’s not even a ball park estimate for the date of this upgrade to is flagship phone the HTC One X.
Samsung (or Samsmug by the sounds of it) announced its Jelly Bean upgrade schedule for several phones when it announced the Note 2 (comes with Jelly Bean preloaded). It was sure to say that the Samsung Galaxy S3 – the One X’s main rival – would be running JB very soon. There have been daily leaks about tweaks to Jelly Bean for the S3, which means the final version is almost here. We saw it at IFA too – there was an amber brown Samsung Galaxy S3 running 4.1 at the Vodafone booth.
So, with this threat in mind, is HTC any nearer to updating the One X, or is it going to be another wild goose chase? The folks over at Gadgetsteria says no and reckons it’ll be Christmas time before Jelly Bean gets to the HTC One X.
