The Evo 3D is the 3D offering by HTC, where you can see 3D images without the use of 3D glasses. So yeah, 3D. Some great news for owners of the device is that the rollout has begun for the latest update of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. According to Samir Makwana at TheMobileIndian, the rollout will cover the Middle East, Africa and Europe, and just smartphones that are contract free and not co-branded.
HTC EVO 3D Android 4.0 ICS update rolls out
It will take up around 300 MB and will include not only the code for ICS but also Sense UI, along with all the exciting ICS features. Unfortunately however, the Ice Cream Sandwich update for HTC Evo 3D will not include software for converting 2D to 3D like the LG, and nor does it include any video editing software, but this is all we really know for now.
The aforementioned LG Optimus 3D and 3D Max are the primary competition for the EVO 3D, with LG having an edge with the 2D to 3D software mentioned previously in the article. However the EVO 3D does boast an impressive range of specs, with a decent 4.3 inch screen with 3D, LCD, Corning Gorilla Glass and a 540 x 960 pixel resolution, to start with.
It also offers a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MDM8660 mobile processor, as also mentioned by Makwana, and the essential 1GB RAM required in order for the 3D to be fully supported. Some of the other features are also specifically related to the 3D technology in the device, such as the camera, which is a dual 5MP camera so that 3D videos can be recorded.
