It’s almost September and still no word about HTC’s plans to roll out Ice Cream Sandwich to its HTC Droid Incredible 2.
No HTC DROID Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich update yet
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was meant to come to the HTC DROID Incredible 2 sometime in August. HTC did say exactly the same thing about the Verizon Thunderbolt, and this phone seems to have got the good stuff, while the Incredible 2 has been left out, making some people feel as if the device won’t get the update at all.
Ice Cream Sandwich is one of the biggest Android update jumps since Froyo, and has features like face scanning to unlock the phone, a better speech-to-text software app, and a whole platform of data sharing that’s focused on NFC (Near Field Communication).
Various other phone makers have pledged their support for the ICS update, with many phones that are running older versions of Android being eligible for the 4.0 update, as well as any future updates.
ICS is now running a fair number of Android devices despite being slow to get to them in the first place. This update will soon be overshadowed by Jelly Bean of course, which at present is in around 1 per cent of Android phones.
Until then though, it looks like HTC DROID Incredible 2 owners will be joining everyone else in the wait for Ice Cream Sandwich. On last check, only around 10-15% of device in the wild are running ICS.
