HTC Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Upgrade Roadmap

By  |

HTC have now announced a FAQ page which gives information about their upgrade roadmap for Android Jelly Bean 4.1. However it doesn’t tell us about specific device upgrade dates, rather it tells us some factors which go towards determining whether a device will get updated.

HTC talks about Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade

It appears that many handsets will not make the Jelly Bean cut. This should come as no big surprise when you consider that HTC normally gives priority to their more recent handsets only. These include the HTC One X and the One S. As for other devices, HTC says that they are actively reviewing their portfolio of handsets to find out which will have the update.

HTC have already thrown two devices onto the scrap heap in the form of the One V and the Desire C. The reason behind this is that Android 4.1 needs more than 512MB of RAM if users are to get the best out of it.

This may be disappointing to owners of the devices which do not make the cut for upgrading. However HTC have said that they will give the One V, Desire C and other handsets bug fixes and improvements to software still.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
