Honda Planning One Over Ford GM With 11 Gears

By  |

Ford and GM have worked together on the launching on a brand new 10 speed automatic gearbox, which they built for offering precise shifting and better power handling.

The 10 speed gearing has proven its worth in boosting the performance of the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford F-150 Raptor. You might have thought that gears cannot go past ten, but then you would be wrong.

It seems that Honda has a patent for a new gearbox with 11 speeds and we think that the gearbox is already under development, with the mechanism being triple clutch.

We don’t really know why they would need that many gears but Honda seems to think that they do. It seems that they think that the third clutch could be used to bring down the drop in torque offered by the dual clutch transmission.

At the moment the details haven’t been revealed and we are going to have to wait to find out if the Honda gearbox is going to impress people with its 11 gears.
