The Honda Pilot has been knocked down by the 2017 Toyota Highlander by a huge sucker punch. This is because the Highlander offers up looks that are much better than the Pilot and so the Pilot isn’t able to compete in this aspect. At the same time the Pilot hasn’t been made available in hybrid, another area where it loses out.

What has been another surprise for the Honda Pilot and people trying to choose between the two is the price tag of the 2017 Toyota Highlander. Generally when a new vehicle arrives it comes with a price tag that is higher than the vehicle it replaces. This isn’t so, in fact the total opposite has happened.

You will pay thousands of pounds less for some trims of the 2017 Toyota Highlander than you would pay out last year. It was shown off at the New York Auto Show recently and it brought with it many improvements along with a brand new look to the front end.

The 2017 Toyota Highlander offers the 3.5 litre V6 engine and this gives out 295 horsepower along with 263 torque. It comes with the eight speed auto gears and if you choose the LE trim or above it also comes with stop and start technology. It has the six cylinder hybrid engine along with an electric motor and it offers up 306 horsepower. If you choose the green version you get all-wheel drive but its available in four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive on the rest.

The 2017 Toyota Highlander offers up plenty of technology and this includes the backup camera along with Safety Sense P driver assistance. This package includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, pedestrian system and lane departure.

In the LE trim the 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid offers up the electric setup and it comes with a price tag of $37, 201. The XLE trim is offered for $42, 270 and you can make the biggest savings on the Hybrid Limited or Limited Platinum. The Limited is $3, 110 less than less year and the Platinum is $2, 605 less.
