Honda Accord: Takata Airbag Claims Another

By  |

Honda was one of the automakers that were heavily affected by the faulty Takata airbag inflator and just went we thought we can all put it behind us, Honda announced that the airbag has claimed another life.

According to Honda, the victim was repairing the interior of the Honda Accord with a hammer while the ignition was turned on. The hammer could have activated the air bag and caused metal fragments to fire out from the airbag.

Honda added that they are still trying to determine if it was the hammer or the rupture of the inflator that has caused the airbag to deploy. This will be the 11th death caused by a Takata airbag deploying in a Honda vehicle.

The vehicle was a 2001 Honda Accord. Takata filed for bankruptcy last year and finally sold the company to KeySafety Systems.
