We saw last week that GTA 5 had a new social channel on Facebook. This page had been created months previously, but only just got officially launched. People flocked to like it – 10,000 in just one day. The following day we reported the GTA 5 news about its FB page going live, and mentioned that its likes had risen to 25,000 in 24 hours.
Facebook’s GTA V release date hype perishes
The 25,000 people liking Rockstar’s FB page is understandable, as the company plans to put all its news there, including the GTA 5 release date. The only thing is, there’s been no communication since August, points out Product-Reviews.
There are around 35,000 people (on FB, anyway) desperate for news about GTA 5, so what’s with the radio silence? The like rate has slowed to 10,000 every two days – this is still good, but not what you’d expect, as the approach of the GTA 5 release date should raise the rate a bit.
Companies make FB pages to reach out to their customers, so hopefully this is a strange blip and Rockstar will be a bit more present soon. The page went live for a reason – maybe by accident, by someone hitting the go live button a bit prematurely – like the trailer reveal.
We want to see the second GTA 5 trailer, as there should be some gameplay and character clues. If all these juicy details have to wait until a magazine comes out, it’d be a bit poor. However, if there’s no Facebook activity, this may happen, which is not what all these FB fans want, is it?
