There has been a lot said recently about the upcoming Nexus handset. the Nexus is almost 1 years old and now is the time for a new version to be released. There has been plenty of talk about the LG Nexus 4, which is expected to be launched in October and now there are rumours of the HTC Nexus 5.

Google Phones: LG Nexus 4 & HTC Nexus 5

The LG Nexus 4 existence can be counted on, however when it will arrive we are not sure. However photos of the HTC 5 inch phablet brought about many rumours as well especially since Google is believed to launch more than one Nexus device this year.

Rumours along with leaks started in September regarding an unknown Nexus 5 from HTC and just this morning HTC officially announced that they do have a phablet coming up that has specs that will blow you away – it is called the HTC J Butterfly. The display is said to be 5 inches 1080 x 1920 with full HD and 440ppi. It will run on Jelly Bean and comes with the Snapdragon S4 processor and 2GB of RAM. It will have 16GB of storage. A few hours following the announcement from HTC, rumours have again started going around about the HTC Nexus 5 as it matches up to the specs believed to be on the HTC Nexus phone from last month.

The LG Nexus 4 is to be based on the Optimus G, and given that the HTC phablet has a 5-inch display, it is only natural that it get the Nexus 5 name (although it doesn’t make it a successor to the LG Nexus 4). Lining up, it would mean there would be the HTC Nexus One, Samsung Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, LG Nexus 4 and the HTC Nexus 5. Sounds about right doesn’t it?

However at the moment this is nothing more than a rumour going around and there is nothing official. Some are saying that Verizon will have the device exclusively in the US and it may even take on the DROID branding i.e. HTC DROID Incredible Nexus X. So what do you think, could HTC be coming to steal the spotlight from the LG Nexus 4 with its massive display?
