Google Nexus X: Is This The 4th Generation Nexus Phone?

By  |

Google have a very transparent naming scheme. Their flagship stock Android devices will retain the Nexus title in their name. And it now looks like HTC may be next in line to build a Nexus device which if rumors serve true, will be based around their phablet the HTC One X 5.

Google Nexus X, the next Nexus phone?

Bear in mind that the Google Nexus One did come from HTC. Google then went with Samsung and released the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus S and then turned to Asus for the Nexus 7 tablet. So therefore it just maybe time for HTC again.

The HTC One X was a superb device and a premium one and Google could have done a great deal worse had they chose someone else. The Google Nexus X which will be based on the One X 5 could be a great handset given that device is basically a One X with a 5-inch display. One thing that sets it apart from other HD devices is the fact that it would be 1080p resolution as opposed to 720p. This is the same as a TV and would make it better than the display of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the retina display of the iPhone 5.

If the rumours surrounding it are true then it could have the quad core S4 Pro Snapdragon processor, this is in the flagship LG Optimus handset. Therefore it would be superb for playing games, thanks to the Adreno 320 GPU.

With up to 64GB of internal storage, support for 4G and a 12 megapixel camera it could be the ideal new Nexus handset. Battery life should be excellent as the device is said to be coming with a 2500mAh battery. The only thing that could let it down might be if it came without SD card support or a removable battery like the HTC One X.

It is thought that the handset would have the latest Jelly Bean OS, which would bring Project Butter to the table, to provide an even smoother user experience than before.
