Android 7.1 Nougat has been an exclusive to Google flagship device, the Google Nexus and Pixel but it seems that the update is going to be heading to other handsets very soon.
In October Google revealed the developer preview of Android 7.1 Nougat and said that it would be made available soon. The VP for engineering at Google said that later on in the month Android 7.1 platform would be made available as an open developer preview. They went on to say that developers could build on the platform and try the newest features.
It is thought that devices such as the Nexus 6, 5X, 6P, 9, Pixel C, Nexus Player and Android One would all receive the update to Android 7.1 Nougat by December.
Shortly after the update has been made available to the Google Nexus handsets it should then roll out to other handsets. Android 7.1 Nougat brings with it performance that is better, better security and productivity along with bringing about optimizations, fixes for bugs and new APIs.
