The Google Pixel comes with Android 7.1 and with it comes Fingerprint sensor gestures and Night Light on the Pixel. However these features are not going to be made available for the Google Nexus 5X and 6P.

A member of the Google team confirmed this in a post to Google + and said that the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X or other Nexus handsets are not going to be getting the functions that come with Android 7.1.

The Night light brings down the amount of blue light that comes from the display and this means that it is less stressful on the eyes at night. The fingerprint sensor shortcuts include swiping down on the sensor on the Google Pixel and Pixel XL to bring down the notification shade.

It seems that the feature requires some hardware in the fingerprint sensor that the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X just don’t have. The Night Light also needs hardware, so this is why it isn’t going to arrive on the Nexus handsets.

The good news though is that both the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X will be getting the Android 7.1 update.
