With the Samsung Galaxy Nexus being one year old there have been a lot of rumours about new Nexus devices coming on to the market. We have heard about the LG Nexus 4, which is thought to be launching sometime in October, and now there are rumours about the launch of another Nexus device, the HTC Nexus 5 which will be based on the recently launched HTC J Butterfly.
New Nexus breed: LG Nexus 4 & HTC “J Butterfly” Nexus 5
We know that the LG Nexus 4 is for real thanks to the numerous photos and even a review of an early prototype; we just don’t know when it will be available. There have been photos of an HTC 5 inch phablet as well and this has brought with it rumours that it will be the Nexus 5. For many months now there have been speculations that Google will launch more than one Nexus device this year and now it appears to becoming true.
Rumours surrounding the Nexus 5 from HTC started back in September and today HTC have officially told us that they have a phablet coming out soon that has some of the best specs ever. This device goes by the name of the HTC J Butterfly.
The device is said to come with a display of 5 inches and it will be full HD at 1080 x 1920, with 440ppi. It will have Jelly Bean installed on it and will run on the S4 Snapdragon processor and have 2GB of RAM. Storage will be 16GB and this device matches up to specs which are said to be on the HTC Nexus phone of last month.
The LG Nexus 4 is of course based on the LG Optimus G. And while the LG is called the Nexus 4 and the HTC phones the Nexus 5, it does not necessarily mean that the latter is a successor but likely just refers to its 5-inch display (just like the Google Nexus 7).
Some people have also said that the device will be exclusive to Verizon and that it may come with the Droid name, making it the HTC Droid Incredible Nexus X. Whatever its name is we can’t wait to see this phablet stateside.
