The Google Pixel handsets should have been made alongside Huawei but apparently the chief executive of Huawei said that they passed on the chance to make the phones.
They said that the reason they didn’t want to work on the Google Pixel handsets was down to branding, as was rumoured some time back. The chief executive said that they didn’t want to go back into making devices for someone else and Google would not have a partners trademark on their handsets.
This meant that what could have been a multi-year phone partnership that began with the Nexus 6P came to an abrupt end. Huawei said that the company does still have a relationship that is strong, with Google.
It has been said that Huawei is at work on a tablet that should run a preview of the next gen operating system of Google, which has the name of Andromeda, which is based on Android. Google is promoting their new product portfolio with the Google Pixel, Home, WiFi and Assistant and of course they are going to keep products of the future locked up tight for the time being.
Many people would have liked to have seen the Huawei Pixel but that is all in the past now.
