The sales figures of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat should have the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 quaking in its boots. Muscle cars sales have been low recently but not when it comes to the Hellcat it seems.
The Dodge Challenger Hellcat offers up the V8 707 horsepower engine and this it seems is the key to a booming business. Dodge sold a total of 7, 168 Hellcat vehicles in 2015 and in 2016 this number jumped up to 11,995. This data was posted recently on an owners forum and it also showed the breakdown of just about everything from the state in which it was purchased in down to the color.
It seems that Texans love the Dodge Challenger Hellcat most of all as they bought 1, 172 versions of the vehicle. The most popular of colors was the Pitch Black version at 27.4% and then Plum Crazy at 10.7%. 32.9% of the MY 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcats had left the factory with the six speed manual transmission.
So it seems that the Dodge Challenger Hellcat has continued to prove that in the US there is still a huge appetite for muscle cars that are not only fast but which are also affordable. This is why it makes a lot of sense for other vehicles such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee to get the engine from the Hellcat, and perhaps other cars should put it into their vehicles too.
