Google Nexus 5X owners received an unofficial version of Android 7.1 Nougat and they got a nice surprise. The ROM came from CyanogenMod and it gives the handset the latest version of Android.
The Nexus 5X Android Nougat comes by way of the CM14.1 ROM and it is available for download so that you can install it yourself. Of course you do have to take into account that being a nightly build it comes with some things that may not work as they should.
Before you go ahead an install Android Nougat 7.1 onto your Nexus 5X you are going to have to back up the data on your device. You will also need to have battery life of eighty percent and install TWRP or CWM.
You will also need to download CM14.1 Android Nougat 7.1 and Google Apps for your Nexus 5X.
First you will have to connect the device to the computer and then copy the file to the SD card of your storage on the phone. Switch the device off and then disconnect t from the computer.
Go into recovery mode by holding the volume up down and power buttons. Once you let them go you will see Bootloader or Fastboot and you may use your volume keys for navigation and power button to choose. You should choose Bootloader and then recovery.
Choose backup and restore and make sure that you do a Nandroid backup and then go into the main menu. Wipe data by choosing wipe data/factory reset and you can then wipe the cache partition along with the delvik cache.
Choose to install from zip SDcard and find the CM14.1 Rom and confirm you wan to install.
Repeat the process for GApps and reboot the Nexus 5X and you will have Android 7.1 Nougat installed.
