The Chevrolet Bolt has drawn up its acceptance speech already as this is the firm favorite to win the 2017 Car of the Year award. If it takes the win it will take over from the Honda Civic, which won the year before.
Automotive journalists from the US and Canada are in the midst of gathering to choose the North American Car of the Year and Truck of the Year for 2017 and this year there are three finalists. These are the Chevrolet Bolt, the Volvo S90 and the Genesis G90. This means that it is a compact electric hatchback going up against two full sized luxury sedans. However the Bolt has been tipped to take the title.
The Chevrolet Bolt is in good standing to win as it also won the Motor Trend Car of the Year award. The Bolt has also been a favorite of consumers purchasing an electric vehicle, so things are looking good for it.
While the Chevrolet Bolt is tipped to win the Car of the Year, for the first time 2017 will see the addition of the North American Utility of the Year, the award will be given to any vehicle that isn’t classed as being a truck or car and this includes SUVs, minivans and crossovers. The three finalists are the Mazda CX9, Jaguar F-Pace and the Chrysler Pacifica.
