BMW was at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year where they showed off the BMW X7 iPerformance concept model which is what the new BMW X7 was supposed to be based on.

While the concept did gain a lot of attention, it was also clear that it was too wild and that BMW was going to tame it down when they work on the BMW X7. Autocar has now reported that the BMW X7 new design will indeed be the toned down version of the X7 iPerformance concept.

The new BMW X7 will be wider, longer and higher than the current BMW X5 model. Instead of a hybrid engine, we will be getting a naturally aspirated engine but they did not reveal where the engine will be coming from since BMW does not have a naturally aspirated engine to offer.

The hybrid engine will eventually be offered but right now, there is just not a whole lot of information about that engine. More will be revealed when BMW debuts the new X7 at the LA Auto Show.
