The CEO of Blackberry has been talking about a new smartphone that they are working on that is going to be the successor to the BlackBerry PRIV.
BlackBerry is well known for their physical keyboards and once again the successor is going to come with just that. The CEO said that the company is working on new handsets and one is a keyboard phone.
Of course BlackBerry said in September that they were folding the hardware division part of the company and putting their focus on software, so this news has come as a surprise. However it does seem that they are not going back on this and the successor to the BlackBerry PRIV would be the last handsets to be offered.
The CEO didn’t give any other information about the successor to the BlackBerry PRIV, other than the handset is coming. Fans of BlackBerry would like to see a handset that is candybar shaped with a keyboard that slides out, but perhaps this won’t happen.
We did hear that the handset had the codename of Mercury and that it may have the QWERTY keyboard. The CEO may be talking about the handset with a 4.5 inch display that has been rumoured and it will come with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and it will be full HD. Rumor has it that it will offer up a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm processor, 32GB memory and 3GB of RAM.
The successor to the Blackberry PRIV is said to be coming with a camera of 18MP along with a camera of 8MP on the front and it may have a battery of 3,400mAh and run Android Nougat.
