Nokia revealed their latest Windows Phone 8, the Lumia 920 this week in an effort to boost Nokia’s smartphone portfolio and show off the technology which they say is second to none. This includes tech such as the PureView camera technology.
Best camera: Nokia Lumia 920 vs iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S3 & HTC One X
However Nokia did themselves no favors when they released a promo video showing off the tech of the camera that was actually taken by a DSLR. They said they were sorry and then did the same thing with still shots taken from the video and again had to say sorry. This left Nokia with egg on their face and a cloud hanging over the launch of the Lumia 920 as it put doubts in the minds of people about the actual capabilities of the camera.
One of the main features of the PureView camera is its ability to take photos and videos in low light, this is thanks to optical image stabilization. To prove that photos taken with the Nokia Lumia 920 aren’t actually too bad, TheVerge met up with Nokia in Central Park. They took shots with the Nokia Lumia 920, the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and iPhone 4S.
All shots were taken without a flash and on auto settings. The Lumia 920 blew the other handsets out of the water and there was no reason whatsoever for Nokia to disgrace themselves by lying about the promo videos and stills. It seems that Nokia may need a better marketing team behind them?
