If you cast your mind back some years ago you may be able to remember the LX platform developed by Mercedes Benz, which was used on the E-Class. The LX platform was taken on by Fiat-Chrysler and this allowed them to develop both the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger.
Now BAIC, the Chinese base car maker is replicating the same method as they have their sights on the old E-Class and they wasn’t to use the platform for the development of their new cars. However they haven’t said which platform they want.
The underpinnings of the Mercedes Benz are old but despite this BAIC thinks that it is still a great platform to use and when used on new vehicles today the platform has a great deal to offer.
So it is looking as though the Mercedes Benz E-Class underpinnings are going to be given a new lease of life.
