The AT&T version of Jelly Bean 4.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S3 has become available today for owners of the phone. Users are able to update through Kies and users can also flash it.
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update officially released, not OTA
XDA developers said that finally AT&T had made the update official and it would come through Kies. At the moment there is no news of the updates being available OTA and users haven’t reported seeing it in the settings of the device. So if you want to get your hands on the update now then you should update the Kies software to the latest version.
The updated firmware is I747UCDLK3 and you can also get it from Samsung-Updates.
The update is huge and therefore don’t expect to upgrade your AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 in a hurry. It will replace the older Jelly Bean version and while it’s not the latest Android 4.2, it is a great update.
It brings with it numerous improvements over ICS. These include a web browser that is new, an interface that is faster, better camera app, widgets that have been improved and better notifications. It also includes Google Now.
AT&T has become the 3rd US carrier to get the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3. Now there is just Verizon and US Cellular who are lagging behind in the US. At this moment in time neither of these two carriers have said anything about a release date, nor have they provided a timetable for the arrival of the Jelly Bean 4.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
