The folks over at PopHerald have received an anonymous tip that the Samsung Galaxy S3 on AT&T will be getting the update to Jelly Bean Android 4.1.2 next week. This means that users of AT&T will have something to be “thankful” for at the end of the month.
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update tipped for next week
A leaked version of Jelly Bean has been seen for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon, however with their track record of handing updates, users shouldn’t count on getting their hands on the real deal anytime soon. T-Mobile along with US Cellular have not said anything at the moment about the Jelly Bean update, but it will be making its way over the months to come.
If you are with Sprint then you will be clapping your hands for your carrier as they have the update rolling out already. Samsung have also released Android 4.1 for those who have the GSM variation of the Samsung Galaxy S3 in parts of Europe, Middle East and Asia.
When it comes to delays with handsets, it is not generally Google who is to blame. Carriers take a long time to release updates after Google have passed them on. LG and Samsung get Android in its raw form and they then customise it with their own user interfaces.
Carriers need to get a move on with the update process before we enter the Christmas season, to ensure that sales figures are raised before the end of the quarter.
