According to TheVerge, you will soon be able to get your hands on an unlocked ASUS Padfone and station bundle for $859.50. The Verge reviewed the Padfone and the accessories that go with it, including the 10.1 inch tablet shell. With its “funky” looks you might have never thought that any of the US carriers would sell it on contract and up to now they don’t. At the moment the only way to get the Padfone is to buy it outright.
ASUS Padfone to battle it out with Samsung Galaxy Note here in the US shortly
Right now the device bundle is available from Negri Electronics. They are selling the 4.3 inch phone along with the 10.1 inch combo tablet station in the 16GB form for $859.50. If you want more storage there are packages costing $959.50 and $1059.50. However the latter two are not in stock and can only be pre-ordered.
At the moment there is no indication of how long until you get the device delivered and there is also no mention of the Bluetooth headset and stylus and the monitor dock for the desktop. For now and the unforeseeable future it seems that gray market retailers may be the only option if you want to get your hands on the latest Asus creation in the US.
Would you fork out close to $900 for this phone/tablet hybrid? Or do you find something like the Samsung Galaxy Note phablet good enough to fulfill this new niche? Sound off in the comments below.
