Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt gave a short state of the Android nation address at Motorola Droid RAZR press party on Wednesday this week.
Twice as many Android handsets activated compared to iPhone out there
During his address he announced that around 1.3 million Android phones and phablets were being activated every day, and that more than 480 million Android devices were now active around the world. This means that there is double the population of Android devices compared to iPhone handsets.
Google’s senior vice president of mobile, Andy Rubin, said that around 900,000 Android devices were activated every day throughout the month of June. This figure means that Android purchases and activations have risen by at least 44 per cent in the last three months.
